Application Method:
Following last year’s harvest, Tony applied Kendon High K as foliar fertiliser twice — once after harvest and again before senescence. As the new spring budding season approached, he further supported the vineyard’s health by applying Kendon PFF Gold once via fertigation and twice by foliar spray as the leaves emerged. Throughout the growing season, up until this year’s harvest, Tony continued fortnightly applications of High K, ensuring the plants received consistent nourishment.
The grape harvest results were remarkable:
Tony’s Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes were harvested end February, three weeks earlier than other vineyards in the area. While many vineyards were just finishing veraison, Rose Creek Estate was already harvesting.
Tony attributes this early harvest to the effectiveness of PFF Gold and High K, believing these products helped the plants reach their maximum genetic potential.
In addition to speeding up maturation, Tony saw significant improvements in flavor, texture, juiciness, and resistance to pests and diseases. The shorter growth cycle provided by these applications was crucial in protecting the crop from potential early autumn rain and frost damage, both of which can be devastating for vineyards. Tony is excited about the quality and quantity of his harvest, and the results confirm that proper plant nutrition and timely applications can make all the difference.
